Why Johns Hopkins?

What do you love about your school?

I love the atmosphere of Hopkins so much. With the marble and brick buildings, it makes campus always look beautiful no matter the season or weather. I also love the academic air of the school. Everyone wants to learn as much as they can, which is something that motivates me to be a better student. All the people I have met and friends I have made are just so intelligent that I am always learning both inside and outside of class.

Why did you choose your school when you were a senior in high school? Walk us through that process.

When going through the college process in high school, I wanted to go to a school that had amazing academics and a good reputation. I also knew that I did not want too large of a school. When applying to colleges, Hopkins was always my top choice, but I wanted to keep an open mind to other colleges as well. When I did get into Hopkins, I knew it was the place for me because of the academics, but also how close it was to home. I love that I can go home whenever I want and my parents are just a 30-minute drive away.

What has been your favorite class so far? Tell us about it!

My favorite class so far has been Sports History in the Cold War. My professor was amazing, but I love learning about the Cold War through a different lense.

What fun traditions do you like to partake in at your school?

My favorite tradition at Hopkins is Spring Fair, a festival that happens during a weekend in May. It is an amazing time to take a break from studying and be able to have fun with your friends before finals hit. The weather is also amazing, so many people do things outside.

Tell us about Jewish life on campus. How have you been able to engage with this aspect of your identity while at school?

Hopkins has many opportunities to participate in Jewish life. I am very surprised by how involved in Jewish life I have become. You can be as much or as little involved as you want in Jewish life at Hopkins, but it is an amazing community to be apart of. My friends and I never miss a Shabbat dinner at Hillel!
