Why James Madison?
What do you love about your school?
I love the campus, it is beautiful and surrounded by mountains. When it is nice out, you can find hundreds of students hanging on the quad studying, playing games, or just chatting with the mountains in view. JMU is also known for being one of the friendliest schools. When I toured, they said no matter where you are, someone will the hold the door for you. Just after my first few days at school, I found this was very true! JMU is so welcoming and has so many clubs and events for anyone to get involved with.
Why did you choose your school when you were a senior in high school? Walk us through that process.
When I first toured JMU my junior year of high school, I fell in love with the campus and atmosphere of the school and it was automatically my first choice. As I toured other schools and faced admission decisions, JMU ended up being the perfect fit for me.
What has been your favorite class so far? Tell us about it!
My favorite class I have taken is Psychology Lifespan Development which I ended up being a TA for this semester. I actually came to JMU as a different major and this was the class that led me to switch to a psychology major.
What fun traditions do you like to partake in at your school?
I love tailgating football games during the fall. During parents weekend, all my friends and their families have a tailgate together and it is always so much fun.
Tell us about Jewish life on campus. How have you been able to engage with this aspect of your identity while at school?
Being at school was a huge change for me not to be with my family during the holidays. JMU Chabad house holds weekly Shabbat dinners at their house along with dinners for the high holidays and other holidays like Passover. I like to attend the high holiday dinners with some of my Jewish friends from my sorority!
