I take part in a lot of different activities all over campus. I have been an RA (which is a Residential Assistant) for the past two years and will continue that job next year. I have also held several jobs with Goucher Hillel. I started off as an engagement intern, then moved up to programming committee, and for my final year I will be one of two co-presidents. I have also been a TA (a Teaching Assistant) for a freshman writing class. I'm also a dancer so I have been in several dance performances and am also a part of Goucher's 1021 Hip Hop Team.

Why Goucher College?
What do you love about your school?
I love that I have had so many opportunities to practice and develop my leadership skills. I have had several different kinds of jobs on campus and they have all challenged me in different ways. But through them all, I have learned more about myself and how I can engage with my fellow students and campus community in a meaningful and creative way. I have learned a lot of important skills, and I felt supported throughout my time in leadership roles.
Why did you choose your school when you were a senior in high school? Walk us through that process.
As a senior in high school, I was stuck between two schools: Goucher College and George Washington University in D.C. Ultimately, I chose Goucher because of the emphasis on community and the attention to the student body. At Goucher, I sensed that I would be able to balance my academic life with my social life better than at some other universities. Also, I could tell that at Goucher I had the freedom to explore different topics of study before I finalized my major/minor. I knew that I would be able to engage with a lot of different areas of study in order to find the right one for me.
What has been your favorite class so far? Tell us about it!
My favorite class so far has been my intro to sociology. It was the class that lead me to picking my major. The intro to sociology class finally provided the time and space to learn about and discuss the issues that I care about so much. Coming into college I cared a lot about marginalized groups and their role in society, but I did not know that that is what sociology focuses on until I took a class on it. It was the class that started it all for me.
What fun traditions do you like to partake in at your school?
Goucher has a yearly event called GIG- Get Into Goucher. It's kind of like a giant street fair or festival. It essentially raises school spirt for the student body by providing a really fun day filled with music, activities, good food, and more. It's a great time to hang out with all of your friends out in nature (if the weather is good) and take a break from studying and working. It's just a super fun day where you don't have to worry about being a student.
Tell us about Jewish life on campus. How have you been able to engage with this aspect of your identity while at school?
Jewish life on campus is pretty prominent. Goucher Hillel really strives to engage with the student body. We make a point to emphasize Jewish values and learning, while also creating an open and welcoming environment for anyone and everyone. Goucher Hillel also does a good job of providing programs that focus on Jewish identity, as well as programs that focus on social interaction and engagement. Goucher Hillel has really helped me to realize my Jewish identity and explore it more.Being surrounded by so many Jews, who all look at how they practice Judaism differently, it helped me to figure out how I want to celebrate my Judaism. Goucher Hillel has really instilled confidence in my Jewish identity by allowing it to be different than the other people in the space. I feel much more inclusive and definitive in my Jewishness since coming to Goucher.
